...the labors of old news...
02.29.08 - the christmas track, "the caroler," was finished, and was quite lovely. much thanks to cowriter and engineer-type matt finch. he is brilliant. however, since i was involved, the track went absolutely nowhere, so it is now downloadable for free at the myspace page, along with everything else that is now free. as mentioned on that page, i will try to rotate the free songs, so that everyone can pick up all 4,239 songs over time, if they so desire. happy leap year.
11.29.07 - the labors of sisyphus has completed a christmas track with the fine help of a certain matt finch. unfortunately, you cannot listen to this song, as i am attempting to trade it to a certain sufjan stevens as so. therefore, i am entirely uncertain as to why i decided to tell you this whatsoever.
06.17.07 - i am the inverse of the greatest salesman.
03.26.06 - i guess i'm some five years into this, and i'm finished. there have been a lot of questions about "the greatest salesman," so i feel obligated to release, at the very least, what i have. as such, in late april, the album will be available via download. i'm sure all of my reasons are arbitrary, and inconsequential at best. thanks so much to all of you who have listened and been very kind. there were many.
11.01.05 -
ah yes. the shirts are here. they are nice. they are a mere $10. i'd like to think they are whiskey/beer resistant, but that idea is yet to be tested. maybe tonight. at any rate, i am also running a good deal on everything else, so mosey on over to the merch page.
09.13.05 - i forget what i walk into rooms for. this saturday i will be performing in gainesville at midtown (the old purple porpoise) with some of my favorite people; and then sunday in jacksonville with more of the same flavor. my favorite that is. there should be a fairly ridiculous interview with me in gainesville's "alligator" newspaper this thursday; assuming my uncouth passions are not stripped entirely of their virility by the fcc.
08.24.05 - have you ever been beaten with a spoon? i think i was, once. or does the expression go, "gag me with a spoon?" yes. i think so. either way, you and your spoons might find your way to the london bridge in jacksonville, or the pontiac tavern (the old jetset) in gainesville this weekend; where you will find me singing of all things un-spoony. and an exceptionally warm welcome to all of you surprised orrtreks.com visitors. there are perks to being a web-master, and the ability to redirect retired sites to locations of my choosing is certainly one of those. go pour beer on your cereal.
08.07.05 - common grounds tomorrow. among other things, i'll be debuting a particularly brilliant cover of "hollaback girl." why, you might ask? probably because i'm a drunk. i don't even do covers. but i harbor so much disgust. there is so much shit in the world, and "hollaback girl" seems to be the front-runner at the moment. so i'm going to run with the bitch for a change.
07.07.05 - so i gave purevolume the boot. all of the tracks are now streamable/downloadable from the independent artists company which can be found here. "the provider" has been resting comfortably there in the top five of the folk/acoustic rock genre, with other labors tracks not far behind. i knew all of these blowjobs ive been giving would pay off one day...
a very brief hiatus is being taken from the shows - partly because unlike most of the wankers who tour non-stop courtesy of mommy and daddy, i have to work to eat; and partly so that i can lay down a few new tracks in what little time i do have. there does look to be a show in jacksonville on the 30th however; so if youre in that area...you know the routine.
06.04.05 - the labors of sisyphus' mail server was down for about two weeks. i quite nearly experienced a nervous breakdown, and i am still having a few extra drinks each night to wash away the lingering trauma. at any rate, if you sent me an email towards the end of may i most likely didn't receive it; so don't think i'm that big of an asshole. feel free to resend - or just send me something for no reason at all...i love getting emails, and it gives me a sense of security knowing that things are now working properly.
on another note, there were several shows last month; they all went quite swimmingly, but as they all felt so crammed together i didn't have time to vary the set-lists as much as i'd like. the next is on june 16 at eddie c's and i plan to perform as few of the songs performed in may as possible. so if you think you've seen it all, you can think again. and then send me an email about it. and then brush your teeth.
05.04.05 - the labors of sisyphus has leaked a second track from the upcoming album to the myspace site and the purevolume site. it is called "the provider." i also have a ton of shows this month, by my standards. please visit, and together we will make the world smaller.
04.22.05 - sometimes i get really drunk, and search for myself on the internet. i always find very encouraging things when doing so. the labors of sisyphus will be performing tomorrow at the purple porpoise alongside alaco affair and christina wagner. there will be many new things, and many drastically altered old things. i find myself excited. in fact, when you pair it with this drunkenness/internet exploration, "elation" may be a better word.
03.20.05 - i have posted a new track from the upcoming album, "the greatest salesman" to the purevolume site. creatively, this track is called "the greatest salesman."
01.30.05 - there have been things. good things. i am currently in the midst of a small whirlwind of shows. performed twice for the 2005 music law conference this weekend, which spawned
many merry meetings and a bit of alliteration. this tuesday i will again be found at the purple porpoise for the rock 104 stripped down series - also a small spell down the road in february with the sloppy meateaters...and there are already many more logs on the fire for march and april. it has been lovely; those of you who have made it to recent shows would have caught glimpses of the third album, "the greatest salesman," whose release is likely to be severely delayed since i file for bankruptcy tomorrow. its only a life.
10.17.04 - figured id update here...shits and giggles. i am currently writing tracks for a third album, "the greatest salesman," which i intend to never release. more immediately, i will be hosting a slot this coming weekend in jacksonville alongside some wonderful people for christina wagner's cd release party. if you feel so inclined, we can shit and giggle together in that place.
05.04.04 - in a stunningly stupid business move, i have made both albums downloadable for free in their entirety here and dropped the price of each cd to $5 here. it happens.
04.13.04 - "two points, a cast, and the whore" released today. yeah, yeah. there will be a small turnover period before my online vendors have it and all that nonsense... until then, ive posted another track from the album called "alveola" - and you can find it here. go make yourself a drink.
03.29.04 - the labors of sisyphus has a new ep. it is called "two points, a cast, and the whore." it will be available april 13. the site has obviously had a facelift. but even botox cannot transform that which is hopelessly nothing more than an ugly slut.
